Nazar Zadniprovsky on Galina Bezruk: Her Residence and Career in Russia.
The Strained Relationship Between Nazar Zadniprovsky and Galina Bezruk
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian actor Nazar Zadniprovsky has publicly addressed the wartime stance of his colleague, actress Galina Bezruk. He revealed that Bezruk is currently living in the Russian Federation and continues to work there. This situation has caused significant concern, particularly as Zadniprovsky severed all professional ties with her in the spring of 2022. His decision came directly after a Russian missile strike on the Kramatorsk railway station, an attack that resulted in the deaths of over 30 people.
A Personal and Professional Break
Zadniprovsky stated that his choice to cut ties was a direct consequence of Bezruk's decision to remain in Russia. His frustration was captured in a pointed remark:
“Galya, take your Muscovite husband and go,”referring to her husband, Russian national Artyom Alexeyev. This comment underscores his profound disapproval of his colleague's chosen path.
For her part, Galina Bezruk has explained her position, citing professional reasons:
“What am I supposed to do here? I'm a musical theater actress, and there's no such work here,”suggesting a lack of opportunities in Ukraine for her specific genre. She was active until shortly before the full-scale invasion, with the last season of the popular musical 'House of Happiness' filmed in December 2021. This case highlights the difficult choices artists face during wartime, where personal safety, career, and national loyalty can come into stark conflict.
The fundamental disagreement over Bezruk's residence in Russia has led to a complete rupture in her relationship with Zadniprovsky. This personal rift reflects the wider tensions and moral reckonings within Ukrainian society and its cultural community since the Russian invasion began. Such divisions illustrate how the ongoing war forces individuals to make choices with lasting personal and professional consequences.
