Car Soundproofing Study: Which Vehicles Are Quietest at High Speed?

According to Novyny.live: A comprehensive test of 28 popular car models measured cabin noise at 110 km/h to determine acoustic comfort. The quietest vehicle was the Volvo ES90 electric sedan, recording just 66 dB. In contrast, the loudest models were the Citroen C3 Aircross and Dacia Sandero Stepway, both hitting 72.4 dB—tied for the highest noise level.

Swedish automotive magazine ViBilagare conducted the study. The diesel-powered Skoda Kodiaq and hybrid Mazda CX-60 both achieved 69.8 dB, placing them in the mid-range for sound insulation. Other notable performers include the Volvo XC60 at 70.4 dB and the Kia Sportage at 70.6 dB, showing solid acoustic comfort for their class.

Loudest Cars on the Road

At the other end of the spectrum, the worst soundproofing belonged to the Citroen C3 Aircross and Dacia Sandero Stepway (72.4 dB), followed closely by the Toyota Corolla Cross at 72.5 dB. Even louder were the Mini Cooper E at 74.0 dB and the Skoda Octavia RS at 74.2 dB, making them the noisiest models tested.

The ranking was based on standardized measurements taken at 110 km/h, giving consumers a clear benchmark for comparing cabin noise across different vehicles. This study highlights how crucial soundproofing is for driver and passenger comfort, especially on long highway trips.

These findings can help potential buyers prioritize acoustic comfort when choosing their next car.
