NBU presented the coin 'Archangel Michael': details of the special design.

According to inkorr.com: At the National Museum in Lviv named after Andrey Sheptytsky, as part of the project 'Archangel Michael - Angel of Victory', a new commemorative coin of the National Bank of Ukraine with a denomination of 10 hryvnias was presented. This release is part of the series 'Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine' and is dedicated to Archistrateg Michael, one of the most respected patrons of the Ukrainian people. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to the NBU.

An important event in the release of this coin was the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the founding of the National Museum in Lviv and the 160th anniversary of the birth of its founder - Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, emphasized the head of the numismatic products and cash operations management of the NBU, Yevhen Kondratenko.

“We aspired for our new coin to become yet another sign of the spiritual strength of Ukrainians, a symbol of heavenly patronage and faith in victory, reminding us of the strength of spirit, of the light that guides Ukrainians through the most difficult trials,” said a representative of the NBU.

Artistic design of the coin and its characteristics

The artistic design of the coin depicts Archistrateg Michael from the deacon's gates of the Zhовкіv iconostasis, created by Ivan Rutkowych. The obverse of the coin features the royal gates of the Zhовкіv iconostasis along with a prayer to Archangel Michael and a stylized arch symbolizing the victory of light over darkness. The reverse depicts the image of Archangel Michael from the Zhовкіv iconostasis, made using gilding and color printing, with a floral baroque ornament.

The coin is made of 999 silver and has a purity weight of 31.1 g. The sales start is scheduled for November 11, 2025, and it will be available on the website of the NBU's numismatic products online store and in distributor banks.

On November 8, believers celebrate the Feast of Saint Archistrateg Michael, one of the most revered heavenly patrons and the commander of the heavenly host – a symbol of victory of good over evil. On this day, solemn worship services are held in churches, and believers turn to the saint in prayers for peace, health, and protection of the family.
