Dangerous Partnership: What the Moscow and Beijing Alliance Threatens the World.
China and Russia: Restrictions and Convergence
Almost three years ago, the presidents of China and Russia, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, proclaimed a 'friendship without limits'. However, since then, their relationship has become less enthusiastic. The partnership continues to expand, but with certain restrictions. The Council on Foreign Relations in the USA considers this friendship to be the biggest threat to the USA in the last sixty years.
The military actions in Ukraine have shown that Sino-Russian relations have their limitations. China is reluctant to supply weapons to Russia, and Chinese banks have intensified compliance with sanctions due to Western threats.
The strategies of Russia and China differ. Russia is more destructive, while China believes that the current order can be adapted to its interests. However, these restrictions make their convergence more pragmatic and sustainable.
China's rise brought it closer to the USA, but now its economy is facing difficulties. Russia and China find support in the internal problems and contradictions of Western democracies, but their own difficulties are becoming gradually more apparent.
