Russia has once again deployed missile carriers with Calibers into the Black Sea: what is the threat to Ukraine.
Russian cruise missile carriers have reappeared in the Black Sea after a long absence. Currently, there are 2 enemy ships with 'Calibers' ready for action.
Missile carriers at sea
As of July 4th, there was no detected activity from the enemy fleet and aviation in the Black Sea. However, at 9:00 AM, the Russian Armed Forces brought 2 missile carriers into the water, which can simultaneously launch up to 16 'Kalibr' missiles.
Threat from 'Kalibrs'
The 'Kalibr' cruise missiles used by Russia for strikes on Ukraine pose a serious threat. They can be launched from ships or submarines in the Black Sea with a large range. Their low flight altitude makes them hard to intercept by anti-aircraft defense. Furthermore, these missiles can carry cluster munitions, increasing the damage radius.
Recall that we previously wrote about why Russian missile carriers did not enter the Black Sea. Also about the consequences of the attack on Odessa.
The reappearance of Russian cruise missile carriers in the Black Sea has raised tensions in the region and sparked renewed discussions about the threat they pose to Ukraine and other countries along the Black Sea coast.
