According to ТСН: Nestlé is recalling certain batches of baby food worldwide due to a possible risk of a toxin that could cause food poisoning.

This has led to the recall of several batches of SMA baby formulas sold in various countries due to the potential presence of the toxin cereulide. This toxin can cause nausea and vomiting in infants.

Product Recall

Nestlé has reported that the recall affects baby formulas sold in countries such as France, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Italy, and Sweden. Specifically, the brands Guigoz and Nidal in France, Beba and Alfamino in Germany are included in the recall. In the United Kingdom, information on batch numbers can be found on the Nestlé website and the food.gov.uk portal.

Safety Measures and Refunds

The company emphasized that other products are not subject to recall, which is being conducted 'as a precautionary measure'. Nestlé promises refunds to customers who purchased the products associated with the issue due to ingredients from one of its suppliers.

Danger of Cereulide Toxin

The cereulide toxin is produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus and can cause food poisoning with vomiting and stomach cramps. The FSA agency warned that this toxin does not lose its activity during the preparation of formulas using hot water.

'I want to assure parents and caregivers that we are taking urgent action to help ensure that all affected products are removed from sale as a precaution. If you have already fed your child this product and have concerns about their health, please consult medical professionals,' said Jane Rowling, head of the FSA incidents department.

It is important that Nestlé takes this situation very seriously and is ready to cooperate with customers. Consumers are advised to check the packaging of their products and, if dangerous batches are found, to contact the company for details on refunds. This once again underscores how critically important it is to always check the quality of food products, especially for the youngest ones.
