Unknown Picasso Painting with Dora Maar: Canvas for Sale in Paris for 8 Million.
A Picasso Painting Will Be Auctioned in Paris
According to Korrespondent.net: On October 24, an auction will be held in Paris where Pablo Picasso's canvas titled 'Bust of a Woman in a Floral Hat' will be presented, reports France24.
This work, created in 1943, depicts his muse Dora Maar and will be shown to the public for the first time, as it had previously been in the artist's private collection.
The painting, measuring 80x60 cm, was painted by Picasso in July 1943, when his relationship with Maar was nearing its end. Despite this, she remained one of his most significant muses - the artist created about 60 works related to her.
In August 1944, the canvas was purchased by a French collector, and now his heirs have decided to sell this unique work. The starting price of the auction is estimated at around 8 million euros, but auctioneers do not rule out the possibility of a price increase.
Experts note that the sales of Picasso's works may reflect the situation in the global art market, which has seen a decrease in activity recently.
It was previously reported that a painting by Salvador Dalí, purchased for only £150 at a sale in Cambridge, turned out to be an original work by the artist and could now bring its new owner up to £30,000.
