Time magazine has chosen the most influential women of the year who significantly contribute to the development of society. The main criteria in the nomination 'Woman of the Year' include the challenges faced by women and society as a whole. Among the winners is 57-year-old actress Nicole Kidman.
According to Time magazine, Nicole Kidman is actively working on restoring gender balance in Hollywood. She has pledged to support films and series created by women. The actress has already starred in 19 films directed by women. Athletes Jordan Chiles and A'ja Wilson also appeared on the magazine cover. The magazine notes that last year was a breakthrough for women in sports. It is known that these athletes became friends before the Olympic Games in Paris.
Among the laureates is Gisele Pelico, a 72-year-old Frenchwoman. She suffered from violence, rape, and abuse from her husband from 2011 to 2020. However, Gisele Pelico decided to escape this nightmare and became a symbol of the struggle for women's rights. Her husband was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Also among the most influential women are Amanda Zhuravsky - an activist for reproductive rights, Fatu Baldeh - a women's rights activist in Gambia, Laufi - a musician, Anna Savay - an actress, Claire Babino-Fontenot - CEO of Feeding America, Raquel Willis - an activist and writer, Olivia Munn - an actress, Laura Modi - co-founder and CEO of Bobbie, and Purnima Devi Barman - a nature defender.
Time magazine has been selecting 'Person of the Year' annually since 1927. They note that the influence of the laureate on humanity, according to which this title is chosen, is not always positive. Earlier, Time chose Donald Trump as 'Person of the Year' up to 2024. In 2023, this title was awarded to singer Taylor Swift, and in 2022 - to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
