Germany promised to strengthen Ukraine's air defense before winter.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced intentions to boost Ukraine's air defense before the winter period.
According to her, Germany, together with EU partners, will transfer four more Iris-T systems and additional Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft installations to Ukraine by the end of the year, Ukrinform reports.
Baerbock made this statement before an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on August 29. She emphasized that Vladimir Putin is waging a "cold war," trying to drive people to despair and make them freeze. "This is exactly what we must prevent"
According to Baerbock, partners are preparing a "protective umbrella" for Ukraine this winter to reduce the extent of destruction of energy infrastructure and other facilities. She noted that strikes on Ukrainian territory have intensified precisely on the eve of the cold season.
The minister also pointed out that Putin continues to wage war despite all efforts to achieve peace. She stressed that no one desires peace as strongly as Ukraine, and no one works harder to achieve it than Europeans with partners around the world, especially within the G7 circle.
Baerbock reminded about the hybrid war that Putin is waging against the West and called for not being naive regarding those who enter the EU from Russia.
