Nova Poshta Tightens Security: Mandatory Passport Rules for Specific Parcels.
Nova Poshta Implements New Identification Requirements for Parcel Collection
According to Novyny.live: Nova Poshta, Ukraine's leading private postal and courier company, has introduced stricter identification rules for customers collecting certain types of parcels. These new security measures are a response to the significant growth in e-commerce and parcel delivery volumes across the country.
Updated Parcel Release Conditions
While parcel pickup at Nova Poshta typically takes just minutes, new mandatory conditions now require a passport or other official ID for specific shipments. Parcels will not be released without proper identification in the following cases:
- When the declared value exceeds 30,000 Ukrainian hryvnias (UAH).
- When the cash-on-delivery (COD) amount is greater than 5,000 UAH.
Furthermore, parcels categorized as 'Documents' can only be released to the named recipient in person. For identity verification, Nova Poshta accepts several documents, including a domestic passport, temporary ID, permanent residence permit, refugee certificate, passport for travel abroad, stateless person's ID, or a foreign citizen's passport. Notably, the electronic passport version available through the government's 'Diia' mobile application is also a valid form of identification for parcel collection.
The implementation of these rules highlights the company's increased focus on security and consumer protection. While these additional verification steps may slightly extend service times, customers are advised to have their necessary documents ready in advance to ensure a smooth and efficient pickup process.
