The Ministry of Defense introduces new ID cards for military personnel: what will change.
New identification document for military personnel
According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian military personnel have received a new document — an ID card that combines several functions into one electronic carrier. This will simplify the accounting of military personnel and make the process safer and more efficient.
According to the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the ID card will become mandatory for all military personnel starting November 1, 2025. The card can be obtained at personnel services or relevant authorities. It must be ordered within 5 days after being enlisted or after significant events.
The new ID card has clear implementation rules as stipulated in the Ministry of Defense's order.
Military personnel can use their previous documents until they receive the new card to ensure continuity of service. This document has many functions, including electronic signature, access pass to military units, and authorization in information systems.
The validity period of the ID card is 10 years, and military personnel are responsible for its safekeeping. In case of loss of the card, soldiers must inform their commander for further action. Previous documents must be destroyed to avoid duplication and ensure data confidentiality.
In case of loss or death of the military personnel, specific rules apply regarding the destruction of the card. Overall, the new ID card simplifies the accounting of military personnel and enhances security in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Transport Service.
The implementation of this new document aims not only to ease administrative work but also to enhance the protection of military personnel's personal data. The introduction of the ID card demonstrates the Ministry of Defense's commitment to modernizing the service for military personnel and making it more effective in the face of modern challenges. This is an important step towards digitization in the Ukrainian army.
