Ukrainian drivers who constantly violate traffic rules may become more responsible for their actions. Members of Parliament have proposed amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, providing for increased fines for such drivers. This was reported by the PMGua publication.

According to the new norm, if a driver violates traffic rules twice within a year, they may face a fine of 1020 hryvnias, which is equivalent to 60 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.

In case of repeated violation within a year, the driver may receive a fine of 2550 hryvnias and lose the right to drive a vehicle for 6 months up to 1 year. Changes in Article 22 of the Code of Administrative Offenses also provide that verbal warnings will no longer be applied.

Repeat violations will be reviewed by the police and the military traffic safety inspection. Official persons will draw up protocols, and decisions will be made by the courts.

The draft law was proposed because Ukrainian repeat-offender drivers do not feel the effective impact of ordinary fines. The authors of the draft law studied the experience of EU countries and came to the conclusion that it is necessary to increase responsibility for systematic traffic violators.
