Polish fishermen set a new world record: caught a catfish nearly 3 meters long.
According to inkorr.com: Polish fishermen set a new world record by catching a catfish measuring 2 meters 92 centimeters. This event took place during the Mikado Cup at the Rybnik reservoir. This is reported by
Glavkomreferring to the Polish Academy of Fishing.
Previously, the record belonged to Italian fisherman Alessandro Biancardi, who caught a catfish 2.85 meters long in the Po River in 2023. The new record was recorded last weekend during the Mikado Cup competition.
Participant's Memories
As one of the team members, Krzysztof Pyra, explained, the struggle with the fish lasted more than an hour and a half.
When we finally saw it, we couldn't believe our eyes - huge, incredible fish, head like a barrel! A true giant! After measuring, it turned out to be 292 cm - this is a new record not only for Poland but for the whole world.
Favorite Spot for Fishermen
After the official measurement and photo session, the catfish was returned to the water. The Rybnik reservoir, also known as Rybnik Lake, is popular among fishermen due to the warm water from the 'Rybnik' power station, where large catfish and carp are often caught as trophies during competitions.
Thus, Polish fishermen set a new world record by catching a catfish measuring 2 meters 92 centimeters during the competition at the Rybnik reservoir, surpassing the previous achievement of Italian Alessandro Biancardi.
This record highlights the popularity of fishing in Poland and increases interest in fishing competitions. Many fishermen consider the Rybnik reservoir a true epicenter for trophy fishing, and such achievements inspire new participants in competitions.
