Restrictions on the Independence of NABU and SAP — How EU Countries Are Reacting.
EU countries have reacted to the adoption of Law No. 12414 in Ukraine, which restricts the activities of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. French Minister for Europe Benjamin Haddad urged Ukraine to reconsider the law, believing that the situation 'can still be saved.'

The German Foreign Ministry also noted that Ukraine will continue to be assessed for progress in anti-corruption reforms.
Serious concern over the signing of the new law has also arisen in Sweden, where it is believed that this may threaten the independence of Ukrainian anti-corruption institutions.
The Dutch Foreign Minister also expressed concern, emphasizing that the loss of independence for NABU and SAP would be a serious setback for Ukraine and hinder the country's accession to the EU.
What Is Known About Law No. 12414
On July 22, the Verkhovna Rada voted for bill No. 12414, which provides for the subordination of NABU and SAP to the Attorney General. The document was signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
The signing of this law has sparked protests across the country and has alarmed the European Commission, which has urged the government to reconsider its decision. MPs in the Verkhovna Rada are preparing a submission to the Constitutional Court to annul this law.
