Over a two-day period on March 5 and 6, a total of 500 defenders were repatriated to Ukraine, with 200 individuals having returned on March 5.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 6,922 Ukrainians have now been returned home. Among those freed on March 6, the oldest Ukrainian was 60 years old, while the youngest defender to return home was 26. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted:

“Among them are soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and our border service.”
