Railway shelling: in which regions train traffic has been canceled.
Railway shelling: problems with train traffic
According to inkorr.com: As a result of another shelling, trains and railway infrastructure were damaged. Electrical supply has been suspended on several sections of Sumy region. This was reported by 'Ukrzaliznytsia', as noted by 'Glavkom'.
To improve safety, train movements for trains No. 144 Rakhiv – Sumy and No. 787 Tereshchenska – Kyiv have been suspended. The duration of the delay will be clarified later. Train No. 6888 Sumy – Lebedynska is also stopped indefinitely. Movement will be restored as soon as the situation allows.
In addition, changes have been made to suburban train routes: train No. 6012 will run Sumy – Trostianets-Smorodine (instead of Vorohta – Trostianets-Smorodine). Alternative transport has been organized in the region: bus + train due to the lack of electrical supply. This will lead to delays of some suburban routes.
Regarding the situation in Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions: due to increased danger and lack of electrical supply on some sections, changes in routes and delays of up to 1.5 hours are possible in suburban routes, as stated in the press release.
Recently, the enemy struck with drones at a railway station in Sumy region. As a result of the incident, two railway workers were injured.
Escalation of attacks on Ukrainian railways
It should be noted that attacks on Ukraine's railway infrastructure are becoming more frequent, and Russian 'Shahed' drones are delivering precise strikes, threatening both civilian and military transportation.
Since mid-summer 2025, Russia has intensified attacks on the Ukrainian railway using 'Shahed' drones. As stated by the head of 'Ukrzaliznytsia' Oleksandr Pertzovsky, strikes on locomotives and substations are aimed at creating panic among passengers and harming the economy, rather than military cargo. Modern drones allow Russia to deliver precise strikes on civilian infrastructure, increasing the effectiveness of attacks.
The conflict in eastern Ukraine continues, and the increasing attacks on the railway pose a serious challenge to Ukrainian infrastructure and security. The consequences for transportation and the economy could be very serious, and urgent measures must be taken to protect civilian objects and ensure the safety of citizens.
