Collapse of a school in Indonesia: rescuers continue the search for 65 students.
According to inkorr.com: A tragedy occurred at an Islamic school in Indonesia, resulting in the death of one student and injuries to many others. The incident happened during prayer time when about a hundred people were in the institution. Rescuers are actively working to locate the victims who are trapped under the rubble. Currently, 89 students have been pulled from the wreckage, but the search efforts continue.
Information about the victims
The death of one 13-year-old boy has been confirmed. 99 students have been hospitalized with various injuries, some in critical condition. 65 students are still considered missing. The tireless efforts of the rescuers have already yielded results — eight injured individuals have been rescued.
Causes of the collapse
Among the preliminary versions of the causes of the collapse is the illegal reconstruction of the building, during which, without permission, two additional floors were added to the two-story school. Currently, the rescue operation is complicated by the heaviness of the debris and the instability of the concrete slabs. Rescuers will make every effort to bring the victims to the surface.
This tragic incident underscores the importance of adhering to building codes and safety regulations, especially in educational institutions. The local authorities promise to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the incident to prevent similar cases in the future.
