Conditions at the Lviv pretrial detention center

According to Novyny.live: Two high-profile defendants in separate cases linked to the deaths of Iryna Farion and Andriy Parubiy have been placed in the same cell at a Lviv detention facility. Vyacheslav Zinchenko, charged in connection with the Farion case, has declared a hunger strike after reporting that his personal sports equipment went missing. Mykhailo Stselnykov, the accused in the other case, confirmed hearing conversations about the missing belongings.

I am starting a hunger strike.

The decision to refuse food stems from dissatisfaction with detention conditions, specifically the disappearance of his personal items. Stselnykov, who shares the cell with Zinchenko, indicated he may join the protest, stating: 'I am ready to join the hunger strike.'

Outrage over missing funds

Separately, Stselnykov also reported that a large sum of money went missing during a search, further fueling his anger. Both men remain under investigation in their respective cases, and their actions are drawing public attention to the conditions inside Ukrainian pretrial detention centers.

This situation highlights ongoing concerns about inmate treatment in Ukraine's remand prisons—issues that have sparked broader societal debate. Hunger strikes as a form of protest could pressure authorities to review policies on detainee rights and living conditions. The cases involving Iryna Farion and Andriy Parubiy continue to attract scrutiny, potentially influencing the direction of investigations and court proceedings.
