The suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, stated that he spends his Time in prison reading. He has already read several books and listed them after the court hearing.

Among the books he managed to read are the works of Shevchenko, such as 'Musician', 'Artist', and 'Twins'. They are united by the theme of the tragic fate of a serf-intellectual.

Zinchenko also read the works of Plato and Socrates. When a journalist asked if he had read modern literature, Zinchenko replied that 'not yet, because my mom hasn’t brought them yet'. He also noted that he had given his mom a list of books consisting of four pages.

Literature as a means of fostering patriotism

Iryna Farion mentioned in her interview that reading literature is important for instilling patriotic values in children. She distinguished between patriotism and nationalism and emphasized the significance of studying the works of the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.

Farion also expressed her respect for Shevchenko, personally calling him 'Tarasik Hryhorovych'.

Today, a court hearing took place in the case of the murder of Iryna Farion. The court is considering a lawsuit from her daughter for moral damages amounting to 15 million UAH.

The mother of the suspect Vyacheslav Zinchenko stated that she can now communicate with her son outside of court hearings. The lawyers requested additional protection, claiming that he is being threatened.

The judge postponed the consideration of the case until February 13 to familiarize with the requests of the defenders.

The prosecutors of the Lviv regional prosecutor's office completed the investigation and submitted the case to court. Vyacheslav Zinchenko faces life imprisonment.
