In Lviv, unidentified individuals splashed paint on a street sign named in honor of the murdered linguist and public figure Iryna Farion. This was reported by the head of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council, Yevhen Boyko.
He said that two vandals splashed black paint on the street sign today, February 9, at around 6:15 AM.
Initially, it was reported on social media that the sign was covered with mud, but it turned out to be paint.
The vandals were captured on city surveillance cameras, and this footage was handed over to law enforcement.
Iryna Farion was murdered on July 19, 2024
The damaged sign has already been replaced with a new one.
As is known, in the evening of July 19, 2024, former deputy and linguist Iryna Farion died in the hospital after an assassination attempt. She was shot by an unknown assailant on Masaryka Street in Lviv. Residents had allegedly noticed a young man there for a week.
As a reminder, on January 13, a hearing regarding the murder case of linguist Iryna Farion took place at the Shevchenkivskyi District Court in Lviv. The session was postponed until February 13. In light of the murder case of Iryna Farion, her daughter Sofia Osoba filed a civil lawsuit for moral damages in the amount of 15 million UAH.
Previously, prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office completed a preliminary investigation and forwarded an indictment to the court regarding 18-year-old Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who is suspected of murdering linguist Iryna Farion. 18-year-old Vyacheslav Zinchenko is facing life imprisonment.
Moreover, as reported by 'Glavcom', in the case of the murder of the famous linguist and former MP Iryna Farion, it is necessary to conduct 15 molecular genetic examinations.
The street named after the murdered linguist and public figure Iryna Farion was opened on January 2. It is located in the central part of the city, in the Halytskyi district. It runs from Mateika Street to the junction of Ustiyanovicha and Bibliotechna Streets. Previously, it was called Technichna.
