Thanks to state-funded capital renovations at 13 school kitchens, over half of the general secondary education institutions in the Odesa region are now equipped with modern facilities. This initiative is part of a broader national effort to maintain educational services and child welfare during the ongoing conflict.

Due to the martial law, schools are now authorized to use emergency dry rations during air raid alerts. This legal provision helps ensure children receive food even during prolonged shelter stays. Oleksandr Lonchak, a local education official, explained:

“When an air raid alert lasts for 8-9 hours and children are in a shelter, it is still possible to provide them with food by using these dry rations.” - Oleksandr Lonchak

Despite this progress, challenges remain. Lonchak emphasized that if parents or students express dissatisfaction with food quality, the response must be decisive:
