Kryvyi Rih After a Massive Attack: How the City is Restoring Electricity and Heating Networks.
According to ТСН: The situation in Kryvyi Rih after the night attack by Russian troops remains complicated but under control.
The Head of the City Defense Council Oleksandr Vilkul reported that during the night, a management headquarters worked in the city, consisting of rescuers, energy workers, heating engineers, utility services, and representatives of the authorities. Efforts to eliminate the consequences are ongoing continuously.
“Yesterday afternoon and evening, the enemy carried out one of the largest combined attacks on Kryvyi Rih since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The attack was on several locations in our city. As of this morning, of the 8 injured, 2 people remain hospitalized. Their condition is moderate, stable. Thank God, everyone is alive.”
The situation with electricity supply remains the most difficult in the Inhulets, part of the Metalurh and Dovhinets districts. A total of 29,360 subscribers are emergency disconnected. Energy workers worked all night and continue to restore the electricity networks.
Water supply in the southern part of the city is ensured by generators, and the situation has stabilized.
As a result of the attacks, more than 30 boiler houses were disconnected, including large ones. As of this morning, all boiler houses are operating normally, except for one in the Inhulets district, which is currently operating from a generator, and heat supply there is just starting. Damage to networks due to shock waves is also being recorded in the city.
Hospitals continue to operate on backup power. All resilience points are functioning and ready to connect generators if needed.
Electric transport in the Inhulets district has already been restored and is currently operating throughout the city. Schools and kindergartens in this district have temporarily switched to distance learning.
During the night, air defense forces in the region shot down 31 enemy UAVs. In the Kryvyi Rih district, as a result of the attacks, infrastructure facilities were damaged, and fires occurred. In the Nikopol district, the enemy shelled communities with heavy artillery and FPV drones; fortunately, there were no casualties.
Residents were also warned that on January 8 at 12:00, a planned explosion will be conducted in the “№2-bis” quarry of PJSC “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” for production purposes. The explosion is controlled and poses no threat.
The Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions experienced a blackout after an enemy strike. The Ministry of Energy confirmed that as a result of the attack, the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions were almost completely de-energized.
These events highlight the complicated state of affairs in the region after the latest enemy attacks. Local authorities and services are working to restore normal life, but challenges remain. Collective efforts and community support are key to overcoming this crisis period.
