Instagram, Facebook, and VPNs Blocked by Occupiers: What Replaces Educational Platforms.
Grip on the Information Space Tightens
According to UATV: Authorities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine have intensified their control over the information environment by cutting off access to Western social networks, independent media outlets, and VPN services. Specifically, platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and X have been blocked. All educational and cultural resources are being swapped out for Russian counterparts, severely limiting the population's access to reliable information and learning opportunities.
Humanitarian Crisis Unfolds in Oleshky
The situation in the city of Oleshky, located in the Kherson region, has reached a critical point. A full-blown humanitarian disaster is underway, marked by severe shortages of water and food. Local residents are struggling to meet even their most basic needs.
Dmytro Lubinets has called for the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to rescue civilians, a plea that has become increasingly urgent as the humanitarian conditions in the area deteriorate.
Furthermore, a system of technical countermeasures is now monitoring internet traffic in real time, further suppressing free speech and restricting information access for those living under occupation.
This tightening of information control, combined with the humanitarian catastrophe in Oleshky, forms part of a broader strategy by the occupying authorities to limit the influence of external information sources and bolster their own propaganda. The urgent call for a humanitarian corridor underscores the dire circumstances faced by locals and highlights the need for international intervention to secure their fundamental necessities.
