Alexey Chernyshov Testifies on Tymur Mindich Ties: Israeli Meeting and Corporate Partnership.
Alexey Chernyshov's Statement on His Links to Tymur Mindich
According to Novyny.live: During a hearing of the Temporary Investigative Commission (TIC) in Kyiv on January 15, former Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov addressed questions regarding his connections to businessman Tymur Mindich. Chernyshov stated that he first met Mindich in Israel several years ago, but emphasized that their last communication occurred a long time ago. This testimony is part of a wider anti-corruption probe into Ukraine's political and business circles.
Chernyshov also confirmed his attendance at a celebration for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's birthday on February 4, 2021. However, his overall activities have raised suspicions of corruption and abuse of office among investigators.
Defining the Relationship and Legal Status
When asked to characterize the nature of the relationship between Zelenskyy and Mindich, Chernyshov provided the following assessment:
'I would characterize that relationship as a corporate partnership, which pertained to the activities of 'Kvartal 95' during certain years. It was built on that foundation.' - Alexey Chernyshov
He further clarified his own legal situation, noting restrictions on his communications: 'You must understand that for the last six months I have been in a specific procedural status. Unfortunately, this status was compounded after I received a second notice of suspicion.'
Chernyshov's statements about his ties to Mindich and his confirmed presence at events with President Zelenskyy are considered significant elements in ongoing investigations into potential high-level corruption schemes in Ukraine. The commission is working to determine if there is substantive evidence behind the suspicions of misconduct and what impact these findings may have on the country's political landscape.
