Chernyshov stated that he first met Mindich in Israel several years ago, but emphasized that their last communication occurred a long time ago. Chernyshov also confirmed his attendance at a celebration for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's birthday on February 4, 2021. However, his overall activities have raised suspicions of corruption and abuse of office among investigators.

He further clarified his own legal situation, noting restrictions on his communications: 'You must understand that for the last six months I have been in a specific procedural status. Unfortunately, this status was compounded after I received a second notice of suspicion.'
