According to inkorr.com: The world is on the brink of serious climate threats, according to preliminary data from UNEP. A new report from the organization shows that global temperature rise is occurring faster than previously forecasted. This information was disclosed by the Euronews portal, referring to 'Glavkom'.

The UNEP report shows that current commitments only slightly reduce the projected increase in global temperature.

If current policies remain unchanged, temperatures are expected to rise by 2.8°C. And if countries implement their commitments, the increase will be within 2.3-2.5°C.

Path to achieving climate goals

UN Secretary-General António Guterres characterized progress in fulfilling climate commitments as 'insufficient', stressing that this could lead to 'climate collapse'. According to the report, necessary emissions reductions, along with limited time for their implementation, could lead to surpassing the critical threshold of 1.5°C within the next decade.

Leaders of the six largest greenhouse gas emitters: China, the USA, India, the European Union, Russia, and Indonesia, plan to reduce their emissions. The European Union is the only one in this list that has already reduced emissions by 2.1% in 2024.

The UNEP report on emissions and temperature forecasts has raised serious concerns in the global community. As climate changes are happening rapidly and time for action is limited, governments need to urgently take measures to prevent dangerous temperature increases on the planet.

In the context of global warming, it's important that countries not only fulfill their commitments but also actively seek new ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Only through collective efforts can we hope for positive changes in climate policy on the international stage. We all must recognize our role in preserving the environment and actively support initiatives aimed at improving the climate situation.
