Foster Care Payments Increased in Ukraine: What Guardians Will Receive in 2026.
State Support for Guardians of Orphans and Disabled Children
According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine, individuals who become legal guardians or custodians for orphans and children without parental care are eligible for monthly financial assistance from the government. The amount depends on the child's age and whether they have a disability. These payments begin after guardianship is officially granted, but they are not provided if the child is fully supported by the state.
Payment Amounts for 2026
As of 2026, the monthly allowance for children aged 0 to 6 is set at 7,042.50 Ukrainian hryvnias, while for those aged 6 to 18, it rises to 8,780 hryvnias. Higher rates apply for children with disabilities:
- Under 6 years old: 9,859.50 hryvnias per month;
- Aged 6 to 18: 12,292 hryvnias per month.
For children without disabilities, the aid is granted for one year from the date of application. In cases involving children with disabilities, payments are provided for the period specified in the medical certificate.
To access these funds, guardians must submit the required documents. This can be done in person or online through the web portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. The digital option simplifies the process for families taking on the responsibility of raising orphans or children with special needs.
These payments play a crucial role in supporting households that step in to care for children who have lost parental care or who live with disabilities. Beyond easing the financial burden, state assistance encourages more people to become guardians, potentially improving the well-being and social integration of vulnerable children.
