Orban proposed Hungary for negotiations between Putin and Trump.
According to ТСН: The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, raised issues that the war in Ukraine has caused for Hungary. He also expressed readiness to hold peace negotiations in Hungary to end the conflict.
The meeting of the politicians was broadcasted, allowing all interested parties to learn about their statements.
The impact of the war on Hungary
Orban emphasized that 'Ukraine is a neighbor of Hungary, therefore Hungary feels the effects of the Ukrainian conflict in full. In particular, this is manifested in economic losses, as economic interaction is blocked by hostilities. This affects both Europe and us.'
Proposal for peace negotiations
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of peace, noting that 'Hungarians are interested in peace,' and proposed to hold negotiations in Hungary.
'We hope that the recently published peace initiatives will ultimately lead to this peace. Hungary is ready to provide a venue for these negotiations and facilitate the successful conclusion of this process,' said Orban.
Meeting with Trump
Putin also expressed readiness to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, particularly in Budapest, for which he thanked Orban. He appreciated Orban's 'balanced position' on Ukraine.
Trump, for his part, reported progress in developing a peace plan for Ukraine and his willingness to meet with Putin and Zelensky, but only when an agreement is close to being finalized.
This meeting highlights Hungary's activity in international matters related to Ukraine and outlines possible paths for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Orban's proposal to provide land for negotiations could become an important step in seeking ways to stability in the region.
