Veterans entitled to early retirement: who can apply.
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, war veterans who have been granted the status of combatants can retire early. However, they must still meet certain requirements set by legislation. This is
reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Combatants are considered to be individuals who have performed combat tasks to defend their homeland as part of various military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are entitled to early retirement by age if they meet certain conditions.
Conditions for early retirement for veterans
Men with veteran status can retire at 55 years of age, provided they have at least 25 years of insurance experience. Women are entitled to apply for retirement at 50 years if their work experience is at least 20 years. The full list of military personnel who are combatants and can take advantage of the right to early retirement is provided in Article 6 of Law No. 3551
“On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection”.
Calculation of pension experience for veterans
An important advantage for veterans is
the possibility of triple insurance experience. Servicemen who served in areas of active combat receive experience according to the formula 1:3 – that is, one month of service is counted as three months.
Combatants can submit an application for the appointment or recalculation of their pension online via the Pension Fund of Ukraine's web portal or directly at any service center. To apply for retirement, original documents must be provided.
Documents for pension appointment for veterans
- Ukrainian citizen passport;
- identification code;
- employment record;
- documents confirming insurance experience, including military service;
- certificate of monetary provision for December 2016 (if information is missing in the Register of Insured Persons);
- combatant certificate;
- certificate of participation in national defense events;
- photograph for pension certificate.
The amount of pension for combatants is determined according to the Law
“On Mandatory State Pension Insurance”No. 1058. The main factors influencing the amount of payments are the duration of insurance experience and the amount of income from which contributions to the Pension Fund were paid.
These innovations promote the social protection of military personnel, allowing them to receive pensions earlier and providing better conditions for veterans. Early retirement will help many servicemen adapt to civilian life after service in the army.
