New Survivor Benefits for Ukraine's Heavenly Hundred Heroes' Families Starting in 2026.
Pension Supplements for Bereaved Families
According to Novyny.live: Beginning in 2026, Ukraine will introduce new survivor benefits, extending pension supplements to the families of those who have lost a primary breadwinner. This measure specifically includes the families of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, the protesters killed during the 2014 Revolution of Dignity. The initiative is designed to provide crucial financial assistance to households that have suffered such a loss.
Updated Regulations and Payment Amounts
Under the new regulations, the maximum pension in 2026 will be set at 23,610 hryvnias. For those eligible for the survivor benefit, the minimum monthly supplement will be 12,971 hryvnias. These payments will be available not only to parents but also to:
- Spouses
- Children who are still in education
- Orphaned children
It is important to note that children born within ten months of the breadwinner's death will also qualify for these supplementary payments.
Consequently, this reform aims to strengthen the social safety net for bereaved families. The introduction of these pension supplements seeks to alleviate financial hardship and ensure a dignified standard of living for those facing difficult circumstances.
This policy represents a significant step in Ukraine's ongoing efforts to bolster social support, particularly as many families continue to grapple with the consequences of loss stemming from military conflict and other crises.
The implementation of these benefits could provide substantial support for those left without their primary earners, underscoring the state's commitment to protecting its most vulnerable citizens.
