Disability Pensions in April 2026: Eligibility and Payment Amounts for Ukrainians.
State Financial Support for People with Disabilities in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In April 2026, Ukrainian citizens with disabilities can expect government financial assistance, with amounts determined by their disability group and insurance record. This initiative aims to strengthen social protection for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive adequate financial backing.
Under the updated regulations, the size of a disability pension depends on the assigned group:
- Those in Group I will receive 100% of the old-age pension.
- Individuals in Group II will get 90% of the old-age pension.
- People in Group III are entitled to 50% of the old-age pension.
The minimum pension payment, effective from January 1, 2026, will be set at 2,595 hryvnias.
Minimum Payouts for Military Personnel and Chornobyl Cleanup Workers
Starting March 1, 2026, minimum payments for military personnel with Group III disabilities will be established at 10,625 hryvnias. For Chornobyl cleanup workers in the same disability group, the minimum payout will be even higher—12,392.13 hryvnias. This increase represents a significant step toward ensuring a dignified life for those who became disabled due to military service or disaster response efforts.
In March 2026, disability pensions were also raised by 12.1%. Ukraine's average salary for 2025 stood at 20,653.55 hryvnias, highlighting the need to align social benefits with economic conditions.
These changes in social security for people with disabilities reflect the government's commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and providing them with financial stability during challenging circumstances.
These legislative adjustments could substantially impact the lives of people with disabilities in Ukraine, offering them more consistent financial protection and enhancing their social integration. Given the rise in average wages, the new norms also demonstrate the government's effort to tailor social benefits to the country's economic realities, potentially improving the well-being of this population segment.
