Disability Pensions in Ukraine: Who Are They Granted To and For What Period.

In Ukraine, disability established for life is granted exclusively to individuals with irreversible health impairments that cannot be improved. However, other citizens must undergo a repeated disability assessment, after which, in case of confirmation of the group, the payments are reassigned.

A disability pension is a state payment granted to citizens who, due to their health condition, have partially or completely lost their ability to work. The amounts of such pensions are tied to the disability group in percentage of the old-age pension.

Rules for Granting a Pension after Repeated Disability Assessment

The fund explained that a disability pension is granted for the entire term of the established disability group. It is also noted that the date of the repeated assessment affects the term of the pension assignment.
