Extra Pension Payments in 2026: Eligibility and Amounts

According to Novyny.live: In 2026, Ukrainian citizens who hold state honors will be eligible for supplementary pension payments. These supplements, governed by the 'Law on Pensions for Special Merits to Ukraine,' will range from several hundred to nearly 26,000 hryvnias. This system is part of the state's ongoing social support framework.

Who is Eligible for the Supplements

The right to receive these additional payments is granted to individuals who have been recognized with state awards, honorary titles, or other special distinctions. Recipient categories include:

  • Cosmonauts
  • Heroes of Ukraine
  • Athletes who are Olympic and Paralympic Games winners
  • Individuals awarded 'People's' or 'Honored' titles after 1991
  • Women who have raised five or more children

The supplement for mothers of many children is set at 23% to 40% of the subsistence minimum, approximately 596–1,038 hryvnias monthly. However, individuals recognized with Soviet-era awards are no longer eligible to apply for new pension supplements.

A new category of recipients introduced in 2026 comprises participants in the 20th-century struggle for Ukraine's independence who suffered repression and were later rehabilitated. Conversely, the right to extra payments has been revoked for Ukrainian national deputies and local council deputies of four convocations.

For war veterans, the supplement for special service to the homeland is 70% of the subsistence minimum, amounting to 1,816.5 hryvnias in 2026. Additional payments for participants in the current war range from one to three minimum salaries, with a maximum potential sum reaching 25,941 hryvnias per month.

The introduction of these new pension supplements in 2026 reflects the state's aim to acknowledge and support those who have contributed to defending Ukraine's independence and development. These changes, including the new category for independence fighters, underscore a commitment to historical memory and social responsibility, potentially improving the financial well-being of these population groups.
