Ukraine's Age-Based Pension Supplements: Monthly Amounts for Seniors 70 to 80+
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine is implementing pension increases, specifically through age-related supplements paid to retirees. These supplements are granted automatically, but recipients must meet specific criteria to qualify.
- Citizens aged 70 to 74 receive a monthly supplement of 300 hryvnias.
- Individuals aged 75 to 79 are eligible for a monthly supplement of 456 hryvnias.
- Pensioners who are 80 years old or older receive a monthly supplement of 570 hryvnias.
A key condition is that the total pension amount must not exceed 10,340.35 hryvnias for a retiree to receive these age-based supplements.
The supplement is calculated from the day the respective age is reached. When moving to the next age category, the pensioner receives only the difference between the previous and the new supplement amount. As expert Olha Sindiashkina noted,
“if a pensioner was born, for example, on the 20th of the month, they will receive a supplement for 10 days added to their pension, calculated for the days after reaching the qualifying age.”
These pension supplements in Ukraine provide crucial additional financial support for the elderly, representing a significant aspect of the state's social policy. This support system is particularly vital given the economic pressures many retirees face, including the rising cost of living.
The age-based supplements are part of the Ukrainian government's efforts to improve social security for its citizens. Considering demographic shifts and an aging population in Ukraine, such programs are likely to remain a key component of social welfare for the foreseeable future.
