Chornobyl pensioners will receive an additional payment of 2595 hryvnias in 2026: conditions.
Additional payment for pensioners in 2026
According to Novyny.live: In 2026, Ukrainian pensioners living in the zone of unconditional resettlement or the zone of guaranteed voluntary resettlement will receive a monthly additional payment of 2,595 hryvnias. This payment is related to the change in the minimum living wage, which has increased from 2,391 hryvnias to 2,595 hryvnias.
The right to receive the additional payment will only be granted to those individuals who have the status of a victim due to the Chornobyl disaster. This affects approximately 105,000 pensioners who have confirmed their residence in radioactive contaminated zones. It is important to note that the payment will be automatically suspended in the event of leaving the resettlement area.
Social support for the affected
Additional expenses for increasing payments will amount to nearly 300 million hryvnias. These changes are part of social support for people who have experienced the consequences of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant disaster that occurred on April 26, 1986. Thus, the new measure is intended to alleviate the financial burden on pensioners living in areas affected by radiation.
The introduction of a monthly payment for pensioners affected by the Chornobyl disaster is an important step in Ukraine's social policy aimed at supporting the most vulnerable segments of the population. This decision also underscores the state's commitment to recognizing and compensating the harm done to people as a result of an ecological disaster.
Such initiatives can contribute to improving the social status of pensioners and their well-being amid rising prices and economic challenges.
