Transition to Daylight Saving Time: Should Ukrainians Change Their Clocks in 2025.
Ukrainians Have Been Informed About the Transition to Daylight Saving Time in 2025
Ukraine uses a seasonal clock change system, like most European countries. This year, the transition to daylight saving time will occur on March 29-30, 2025. At 3:00 AM, clocks need to be set forward by one hour to 4:00 AM.
This means that the night will be one hour shorter, and there will be more light in the evening. Despite some discussions, Ukraine and other European countries continue to adhere to this tradition, transitioning to daylight saving time in spring and back to standard time in autumn.
The issue of changing clocks has become relevant in recent years. After the EU granted its members the right to choose between permanent summer or winter time, this question also pertains to Ukraine.
Currently, Ukraine adheres to the existing clock change procedure. However, Bill No. 4201 proposes switching to permanent winter time. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for this bill on August 21, 2024, but President Volodymyr Zelensky has not signed it yet, so there is no final decision.
To ease the adaptation to the clock change, medical professionals recommend the following simple yet effective measures:
- Start preparing in advance by shifting your sleep time 15-20 minutes earlier a few days before the transition to daylight saving time.
- Avoid consuming coffee, tea, and other caffeinated drinks, as well as heavy meals before bedtime.
- Spend more time outdoors, especially in the morning, as natural sunlight helps the body adjust to the new schedule more quickly.
- After the clock change, maintain a stable sleep and activity schedule, which will help the body adapt more quickly to the new rhythm.
Let’s remind what changes await Ukrainians in February.
