A Woman from Odesa Sentenced to 7 Years for Murder: Now She Wants to Join the Armed Forces.
A woman from Odesa was sentenced to 7 years in prison for beating her partner, which led to his death. However, she expressed remorse in court and stated her desire to sign a contract with the Armed Forces.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Details of the Case
During a joint alcohol consumption with acquaintances, a native of the village of Balkove had a quarrel with her partner. Infuriated by the demand to leave his residence and his refusal to accept her help in caring for her mother, the accused struck the man in the face. When he fell, she kicked him and left. The victim lost consciousness, and an ambulance and police were called only after a few days.
As a result of severe traumatic brain injury, the victim died in the hospital 11 days later.
What the Court Decided
The woman was found guilty of causing intentional severe bodily harm, which resulted in the victim's death (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). However, in court, she announced her intention to sign a contract for military service.
