Arrest in Warsaw: man left a bag at the airport, 500 people evacuated

According to ТСН: The district court in Poland has ruled on a three-month arrest for a 28-year-old man whose actions led to the evacuation at Warsaw's Frederic Chopin Airport. He left his bag unattended, which resulted in the mass evacuation of about 500 passengers and temporary restrictions on terminal operations.

On the evening of November 21, an abandoned bag containing an electronic device was found in the public area of the terminal. Due to the high level of threat, approximately half a thousand people were urgently evacuated.

Reaction of security services

Bomb disposal experts quickly arrived at the scene and inspected the suspicious baggage using a special robot. They confirmed that there were no dangerous items inside. During the investigation, police determined that the bag had been left by a 28-year-old man who left the airport afterward.

Law enforcement noted that the man returned to the terminal about an hour after emergency services began their work, and he was detained around 03:00 (04:00 Kyiv time). His behavior raised suspicions, leading to the case being forwarded to the district prosecutor's office.

Results of the court hearing

The court supported the prosecutors' request and imposed a preventive measure in the form of a three-month arrest. The case was forwarded to the military prosecutor's office for further investigation.

Additionally, it is worth noting that previously in Poland, diversions occurred on the railway on November 15 and 17. One incident took place near the settlement of Zychin in the Mazovian Voivodeship, where an explosion occurred, and another unexploded device was found nearby. Another case happened near the city of Puławy, where the railway contact network was damaged.

At that time, it was reported that the Polish prosecutor's office had charged Alexander K. (39 years old) and Evgeny I. (41 years old) with terrorist sabotage.

These events indicate a deterioration in the security situation in Poland, which may be related to a number of incidents that have occurred in recent weeks. Monitoring the situation in the country remains extremely relevant, as the authorities continue to take measures to ensure the safety of citizens and protect infrastructure from potential threats.
