Weather conditions in Ukraine

According to ТСН: From January 8 to 11, 2026, a significant deterioration in weather conditions is expected. Heavy snowfalls, wet snow, blizzards, and wind gusts up to 18 m/s are forecasted in the western, northern, and central regions.

According to meteorologists, an active cyclone moving from the southwest will bring substantial amounts of precipitation:

  • Western regions, Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr: snow cover increase of 10–25 cm, wind gusts of 15–18 m/s, snow drifts and snow accumulation on the roads.

  • Kyiv and Chernihiv regions: snow and wet snow (5–15 cm, up to 25 cm in the north), possible wet snow sticking, and icy roads.

  • South of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions: snow with rain, locally ice.

  • Traffic complications and risks of disruptions in the operation of public utilities and energy companies are expected.

Strong cold snap

On January 10-11, with the arrival of Arctic air, a strong drop in temperature is expected:

  • Western, northern, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy regions: night temperatures of -14…-20°C, during the day -9…-15°C, in some places up to -23°C.

  • Kirovohrad and Poltava regions: -6…-12°C at night and during the day.

  • Southern, eastern, and Dnipropetrovsk regions: -4°C to +4°C.

It is also worth noting that a yellow danger level has been declared in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warned about dangerous meteorological phenomena in Ukraine: fog and icy roads.

These challenging weather conditions may significantly affect the daily lives of Ukrainians. Drivers and pedestrians must be cautious as ice and blizzards can lead to dangerous situations on the roads. Utility services should be prepared to respond to possible meteorological challenges.
