Polish Citizens Raise 3 Million Zloty for Kyiv: How the Funds Will Be Spent.
Polish Aid for Kyiv
According to UATV: Polish citizens have raised over 3 million zloty (equivalent to more than 800,000 US dollars) to support Kyiv. The collected funds are designated for the purchase and delivery of essential supplies, including:
- 100 generators
- charging stations
- sleeping bags
- fuel
This initiative, named 'Warmth from Poland for Kyiv,' is part of broader efforts to aid the Ukrainian capital following Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure. This support is critical as Ukraine faces a difficult winter with its power grid under sustained assault.
Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude to the Polish people for their generosity.
He noted that this act represents true solidarity, humanity, and sincere support at a time when heat and light are crucial for people's safety and survival. The funds will help provide Kyiv's residents with vital resources amid a severe energy crisis.
The Significance of International Support
The 'Warmth from Poland for Kyiv' campaign underscores the importance of international unity in confronting the consequences of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The fundraising drive took place as the need for generators and other support equipment grows due to relentless strikes on energy facilities. The Polish people have demonstrated a readiness to assist their neighbors in a time of need, which undoubtedly reflects the strong bonds between the two nations.
This action is a significant step in strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Poland, particularly within the context of wartime aid. Since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, Poland has been a key partner, providing humanitarian, financial, and military support to Ukraine. Such initiatives not only bolster Ukrainian morale but also foster the development of good-neighborly relations in the region.
