The police responded to the ombudsman's statement about a deadly flash mob among children.
In Ukraine, no cases of chroming have been discovered at the moment. This was reported by the Communications Department of the National Police.
This challenge, also known as 'huffing', involves inhaling toxic fumes of household products, such as nail polish, markers, aerosols, and others, which can seriously affect health, including damaging the brain, heart, lungs, and other organs, and even cause addiction and death.
'Ukrainian national police units have not recorded any chroming cases and no increase in the popularity of this challenge in the Ukrainian segment of the Internet is observed,' the department reports.
The police emphasize that the information published by the Ukrainian media on this issue was obtained from abroad and concerns the problem of teenagers outside Ukraine.
Parents of teenagers are recommended to check sources of information and not believe everything they see on the Internet, as well as to teach their children to critically evaluate information.
'Verify facts from reliable sources before spreading,' urge Ukrainian law enforcement officers.
Chroming is dangerous for children
A dangerous flash mob has started spreading on social networks, in which children inhale toxic substance fumes on camera, posing a threat to their health and life. This was reported by Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights.
It was recently reported that a new study presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics conference showed a troubling trend: videos about chroming are actively spreading on TikTok among minors.
Chroming, also known as 'huffing', involves inhaling toxic substances from nail polish remover, permanent markers, aerosol deodorants, and other household items. This leads to a short-term euphoric state but has serious health consequences, including damage to the brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, and other organs. Furthermore, chroming can lead to addiction and even death.
