Poland is ready to shoot down Russian missiles. The Minister of Defense named the condition.
The Minister of Defense of Poland, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, stated that Russian missiles will be shot down over the country's territory if they pose a threat to any location in Poland or other NATO member countries. However, there have not been such cases so far.
Kosiniak-Kamysz also noted that Polish F-16s were prepared to defend the country's borders last week. He emphasized that the missiles are not aimed at Polish territory, however, Poland is preparing its military units to act in case of a threat.
Kosiniak-Kamysz stressed that violations of Poland's airspace are a problem for both the country and Latvia. Poland has air defense systems and enhanced security at the Rzeszów airport, which has been placed under NATO protection. Allies from America, Britain, Germany, Norway, and other countries are helping Poland in defense. If the airspace is violated, missiles or drones will be shot down.
However, regarding the shooting down of targets over Ukrainian airspace, NATO currently has no decision, Kosiniak-Kamysz stated. Previously, during the attack of Russian troops on Ukraine in 2023, a missile violated Poland's airspace.
The USA does not support the escalation of the conflict and does not support shooting down Russian missiles over Ukraine.
