A Shift in Warfare

According to Espreso.tv: Serhii Beskrestnov, an advisor to Ukraine’s defense minister, has announced a transformation in how Russia is waging its war against Ukraine. According to him, the conflict is now moving toward large-scale attacks on critical infrastructure, with strikes capable of hitting targets up to 100 kilometers behind the front lines. Beskrestnov pointed out that Ukraine holds an advantage in this new phase, as Russia has a higher density of vulnerable critical sites on its own soil.

Preparing for Broad Assaults

Beskrestnov emphasized that Ukrainian forces must be ready for strikes on a wide range of facilities, including:

  • gas stations
  • post offices
  • warehouses
  • industrial enterprises
  • bases for construction and agricultural machinery
  • railway infrastructure
  • highways
  • electrical substations

“We have to prepare for them to attack anything possible at a depth of 100 kilometers,” he stated.

Beskrestnov also highlighted the absurdity of the situation, where both sides are systematically destroying each other’s infrastructure, leading to civilian casualties:

“The situation is utterly senseless: both sides are methodically demolishing each other’s infrastructure, and people are dying as a result.” - Serhii Beskrestnov

He further asserted that Ukraine possesses more than enough means and motivation to target enemy assets:

“We have more than sufficient resources and inspiration to destroy facilities on the territory of our adversary.” - Serhii Beskrestnov

This strategic shift signals an escalation in the war, as both sides seek to inflict maximum damage on one another. The move toward mass strikes on critical infrastructure could further destabilize the region and deepen the humanitarian crisis. It may also reshape international reactions and support for Ukraine, given that attacks on civilian infrastructure often raise alarm within the global community.
