Poland Imposes Three-Month Airspace Restrictions in Eastern Region.
Poland to Restrict Air Traffic in the East
According to TSN.ua: Poland will partially close its eastern airspace for three months, starting March 10, citing national security requirements. The restrictions will remain in effect until June 9, 2024. This move comes as regional security concerns remain heightened due to the ongoing conflict in neighboring Ukraine.
The Polish Armed Forces' Operational Command requested the closure. The restricted zone, extending from ground level to FL95 (approximately 3,000 meters or 9,800 feet), will enforce a complete ban on night flights. The only exceptions are military aircraft and flights operating to and from the Dęblin-Królewski airport.
Medical evacuation flights may be permitted in exceptional circumstances, but only after receiving authorization from the Duty Operations Service of the Air Operations Center. These measures are designed to enhance regional security and maintain strict control over the airspace.
Broader Security Context
The airspace closure is part of broader security measures, likely connected to the current geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe. Such restrictions are typically implemented to mitigate potential threats, especially in areas of increased military activity.
Travelers and airlines are advised to monitor further announcements, as the situation may impact air transport and local logistics in the region.
