According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian-American writer, poet, and translator Yuri Tarnavskyi passed away at the age of 92. His wife Karina announced this sad news on Facebook.
"This message from Karina, Yuri's wife... He is no longer with us... October 14, 2025...", – the message states.
Biography and Creative Work
Yuri Tarnavskyi was born on February 3, 1934, in Turka, Ukraine. After World War II, he lived with his family in a displaced persons camp in New Ulm, and he completed his education externally in Munich. In 1952, the writer emigrated to the USA.
Tarnavskyi wrote in both Ukrainian and English. He was one of the founders of the avant-garde literary association of Ukrainian writers in the diaspora (NYG) and was a member of the Union of Writers of Ukraine, as well as the American community of literary innovators.
Yuri Tarnavskyi left a significant mark on literature, becoming a vivid representative of the Ukrainian diaspora and a co-founder of an important literary community.
The death of Yuri Tarnavskyi is a great loss for Ukrainian culture both in Ukraine and abroad.
