Remembering Rimma Oleksiivna Lytvak
According to Novyny.live: The city of Odessa has lost a cherished figure with the passing of Rimma Oleksiivna Lytvak at the age of 95. A respected scholar and dedicated philanthropist, she devoted her life to supporting children, with a particular focus on aiding those with disabilities, which became her life's true mission. Her invaluable charitable work left a profound mark on the hearts of many Odesans.
Her husband, Borys Lytvak, is a Hero of Ukraine and an Honorary Citizen of Odessa. He founded the Odesa Regional Charitable Foundation 'Future' in memory of their daughter, Iryna Cherkaska, who passed away at the age of 81. This foundation, which operates a children's rehabilitation center, became the primary vehicle for providing support to children with disabilities. Through the combined efforts of Borys Lytvak and Rimma Oleksiivna, countless children were given a chance at a better quality of life and access to rehabilitation.
A Legacy of Compassion
This loss comes at a difficult time for the community, as Odessa also mourns the death of Mykola Lytovchenko, who was killed in combat against Russian occupying forces—a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict's toll. Rimma Lytvak leaves behind a powerful legacy that will live on in the hearts of those she helped and in the memory of all who knew her as an extraordinary individual. The 'Home with an Angel' she established will continue its mission of supporting children in need.
The passing of Rimma Oleksiivna Lytvak is a significant event for the Odessa community, as her charitable endeavors made a tangible difference in the lives of so many. The work of the 'Future' foundation continues to inspire new generations to support children with disabilities, highlighting the enduring importance of civic engagement and social responsibility. In the current challenging times facing Ukraine, such community-driven initiatives become even more vital for providing essential aid and support to the most vulnerable.
