How to Fix Incorrect Military Status for Those Under 25: Legal Experts Weigh In.
The Issue of Wrongfully Being Labeled as 'Liable for Military Service'
According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine, being classified as 'liable for military service' means a person can be mobilized. However, there have been documented cases where this status was mistakenly assigned to individuals under 25, who should instead hold the category of 'conscript.' This problem came to light after a 22-year-old man discovered his status had been incorrectly switched from 'conscript' to 'liable for military service.'
Lawyer Andriy Karpenko explained that such errors may occur during data entry into the database. He emphasized that in these situations, it is crucial to contact the Territorial Center for Recruitment (TCC) to correct the mistake.
'Based on the information you provided, this is a TCC operator error. Submit a request to the TCC and its branch to have the mistake corrected,' stated lawyer Andriy Karpenko.
Legal Recommendations
Additionally, another legal expert, Vladyslav Deriy, pointed out that status errors could stem from technical glitches, such as those in the 'Reserve+' system. He advises sending a registered letter to the TCC demanding a correction in the 'Oberih' registry, which holds core data on citizens registered for military service.
This matter is critical for young people, as being wrongfully classified as liable for military service can lead to misunderstandings and complications during mobilization. Ukrainian citizens facing such situations should take immediate steps to rectify their records in the database.
It is important to understand that an erroneous status assignment can have serious consequences for those who are not subject to mobilization. Correcting these mistakes can help avoid legal challenges and ensure proper military record-keeping. In wartime, when mobilization is a pressing issue, timely resolution of such problems is especially vital for protecting the rights of young people in Ukraine.
