Over 10 thousand North Korean soldiers in Russia: what tasks are they performing.
According to inkorr.com: More than 10,000 servicemen from North Korea are located in Russia near the border with Ukraine, where they perform security functions. This was reported by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of South Korea.
In addition, Pyongyang has sent over a thousand engineers to Russia for demining and five thousand builders for the restoration of infrastructure in occupied regions. Intelligence notes that these movements are taking place in stages, starting from September.
Cooperation between North Korea and Russia
According to NIS data, North Korea is actively improving its military technologies through cooperation with Russia, especially in the field of missile systems and drones. Topics such as the development of nuclear submarines, intercontinental ballistic missiles, and hypersonic weapons are still in the initial research stage.
According to British intelligence, more than half of the North Korean servicemen participating in the war against Ukraine in Russia may have suffered losses during combat operations in Russia’s Kursk region. This is the first time North Korean troops have participated in offensive actions against Ukraine.
According to the national intelligence of South Korea, North Korea and Russia are actively cooperating in the military sphere, although some ambitious projects remain in the development stage.
This situation indicates not only a general intensification of military cooperation between North Korea and Russia but also a deep integration of their military technologies amid ongoing conflicts. Such actions could impact regional security and relations between these countries and their neighbors.
