Rights of Wounded Military Personnel

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian soldiers wounded in combat are entitled to receive their base salary as well as special financial assistance. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has now defined the amounts and conditions for these payments, providing crucial support for service members during a difficult period of recovery. This policy is part of a broader effort to support the nation's defenders.

Payment Terms and Amounts

The compensation package for wounded personnel consists of their regular salary plus additional allowances. The special payments will be determined based on several key factors:

  • The length of the hospital stay;
  • The severity of the injury;
  • The conclusions of the military medical commission (VLC).

If wounded in action, a service member retains their base salary corresponding to their last held position. Furthermore, a monthly supplementary payment of 100,000 hryvnias is awarded, as detailed in the Ministry of Defense announcement.

These benefits are accrued during treatment not only in Ukrainian but also in foreign medical institutions. They also continue during convalescent leave, but only if the military medical commission officially classifies the wound as severe. It is noteworthy that by 2026, the official subsistence minimum in Ukraine is projected to be 3,328 hryvnias, providing context for the scale of this financial support.

The compensation framework also includes a one-time disability grant, which ranges from 232,900 to 1,331,200 hryvnias. This underscores the comprehensive support system the Ministry of Defense is implementing to protect the rights and interests of soldiers injured in the line of duty.

These new provisions represent a significant step in ensuring the social protection of military personnel who risk their lives for their country.

By establishing clear payment terms and amounts, the Ministry of Defense aims to provide the necessary financial backing to improve the quality of life for the wounded and their families. Supporting service members during treatment and rehabilitation is a vital component of the state's overall strategy to protect those harmed as a result of hostilities.
