The President of the European Council calls on Georgia to investigate election violations
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, expressed his official stance regarding the parliamentary elections in Georgia. He urged the country's authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into possible violations that occurred during the electoral process. Michel emphasized the importance of a swift and independent investigation of all reported violations according to the assessment by the OSCE/ODIHR mission.
He also noted that the Central Election Commission and other bodies must fulfill their duties and conduct a transparent investigation. Special attention in the statement was given to Georgia's European aspirations, and highlighting them, Michel stressed the importance of the country's European course. He mentioned that the issue of the situation in Georgia will be discussed at the informal meeting of the European Council, which will take place on November 8 in Budapest.
Michel called for constructive and inclusive dialogue in the current situation.
