Odessa Under Air Raid Alert as Sea-Launched Drones Approach.
Air Raid Alert Sounded in Odessa
According to Novyny.live: An air raid alert was declared in Odessa and surrounding areas during the night of March 3, 2026, due to the threat of drone strikes. The alert remained active across several districts of the Odesa region and other areas. Residents of Odessa reported hearing explosions, confirming the severity of the threat. These alerts have become a grim routine for Ukrainians since the full-scale invasion began in 2022.
The alarm was activated at 01:44 in the Odesa, Bolhrad, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and Izmail districts. Groups of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were tracked moving from the Black Sea towards coastal settlements including Zatoka, Chornomorsk, Odessa, and Pivdenne. By 02:00, the drones were approaching the communities of Oleksandrivka and Chornomorsk.
Regional Situation
Meanwhile, as of 02:09, air raid alerts were also in effect in parts of the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Sumy regions. These events follow a series of recent attacks. On March 2, 2026, a Russian drone struck an apartment building in Kharkiv, injuring a child. That same day, Russia targeted a Ukrzaliznytsia passenger train in the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing one person and injuring seven others, including two children.
The security situation across Ukraine remains extremely tense, underscored not only by frequent air raid warnings but also by numerous confirmed drone and missile attacks. Authorities continue to urge citizens to follow safety protocols and remain in shelters during alerts, as each incident carries the risk of further casualties and destruction. The persistent threat from the air keeps the civilian population in a constant state of vigilance.
